Power of Sex- Part 6 "I've Messed up...Now What"

Part 6-I’ve Messed Up… Now What?

Jesus said to the people who believed in him, "You are truly my disciples if you keep obeying my teachings. And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free. John 8:31-32

The truth about mistakes…

They keep me from living life to its fullest (John 10:10)

I can do very little on my own about them (Romans 15-17)

The truth about Jesus…

He understands temptation (Hebrews 4:15)

He understands pain (John 11:35)

He understands sexual sin (John 8:1-11)

THE GOOD NEWS ABOUT BAD DECISIONS

My guilt overwhelms me-- it is a burden too heavy to bear. My wounds fester and stink because of my foolish sins…I am exhausted and completely crushed. My groans come from an anguished heart. Psalm 38:4,5,8

1. God FORGIVES
He has removed our rebellious acts as far away from us as the east is from the west.
Psalm 103:13

But if we confess our sins to him, he is faithful and just to forgive us and to cleanse us from every wrong. 1 John 1:9

2. God FORGETS
My dear children, I am writing this to you so that you will not sin. But if you do sin, there is someone to plead for you before the Father. He is Jesus Christ, the one who pleases God completely. He is the sacrifice for our sins. He takes away not only our sins but the sins of all the world. 1 John 2:1-2

STARTING OVER

…those who become Christians become new persons. They are not the same anymore, for the old life is gone. A new life has begun. 2 Corinthians 5:17

1. Forgive YOURSELF
But God is so rich in mercy, and he loved us so very much, that even while we were dead because of our sins, he gave us life when he raised Christ from the dead. (It is only by God's special favor that you have been saved!) Ephesians 2:4-5

2. Confide in a trusted FRIEND
Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and wonderful results. James 5:16

3. Live as if you’re FORGIVEN
Oh, what joy for those whose rebellion is forgiven, whose sin is put out of sight! Yes, what joy for those whose record the LORD has cleared of sin, whose lives are lived in complete honesty! Psalm 32:1-2

4. Base your life on God’s DIRECTION
If you are wise and understand God's ways, live a life of steady goodness so that only good deeds will pour forth. James 3:13

Don't be afraid, for I am with you. Do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. I will help you. I will uphold you with my victorious right hand. Isaiah 41:10
