Pastor Mike Quinn - Senior Pastor
pastormike@cvcf.com

Pastor Mike was raised in a Catholic home, but no one ever talked to him about what it meant to know Jesus Christ on a personal, intimate level. After a “run” through the Southern California drug culture of the late 60s and early 70s, he joined the Army. While stationed in Okinawa, he met some friends who shared the Gospel with him. This was the first time he had ever heard God’s message of grace, and he made a decision to follow Christ in 1973.

After getting out of the Army in 1975, Mike felt called to be a pastor. He enrolled in college, where he met his wife-to-be, Teresa. They married and moved to San Diego, where Mike attended Point Loma Nazarene University. Mike and Teresa began attending and serving at Elim Chapel, a small church in Ocean Beach. After graduation from Point Loma, Mike was ordained with the Assemblies of God and joined the staff at Elim Chapel. He later received a Masters in Divinity from Bethel Seminary.

In 1986, God called Mike and his family to pastor a small church in La Jolla. The church began growing, but none of the members lived near the church. It was then that God began working in Mike’s heart to plant a church in Tierrasanta and to plant subsequent churches as the church grew.

Canyon View Christian Fellowship was born in 1994 and has been a demonstration of God’s love and transformational power. The church has grown from the original 60 to more than 1500. CVCF has established multiple campuses including the North Campus at Edwards Cinemas in Mira Mesa.

Watching Canyon View grow is exciting, but only because Mike understands God’s power to transform lives. In John 10:10 Jesus said, “The thief comes to steal, kill, and destroy, but I have come that you may have life and have it to the full.” Mike knows that he is not the same man he was before he began a relationship with Jesus Christ, and he knows he is continually being transformed. He also knows that Jesus came to bring full life and transformation to every man, woman, and child. He loves hearing those stories of transformation.

Pastor Mike and Teresa have three adult children and three grandchildren. Teresa is the Pastor of Spiritual Development at CVCF.
