Born and raised in San Diego, Robert moved with his family from Pacific Beach to Tierrasanta in 1971 when the community was first built. He attended Serra High School the first year it opened and has watched this community grow from a few tract homes connected by dirt roads to the thriving, dynamic community it is today.
Growing up, Robert learned about Jesus through his grandparents, who regularly took him and his older brother to church when they were young. He recalls praying to accept Jesus into his heart as a little boy riding in the back of his grandparents’ car one Sunday after church. However, it was not until young adulthood -- after enduring some tumultuous teenage years -- that Robert completely gave his life over to Jesus. He quit his position as a drummer in a rock band, moved to the Los Angeles area, and began attending Southern California College where he majored in Business Administration. Thereafter, Robert obtained his credentials as an ordained minister with the Assemblies of God.

For the next ten years, Robert served in full-time ministry in various associate pastoral positions, and primarily, as the Director of Teen Challenge, a Christian-based substance abuse rehabilitation program. The late 1990s were very difficult times for Robert, both personally, and professionally.

After a time of healing, Robert returned to Tierrasanta in 2000 and began attending Canyon View Christian Fellowship where God continued His work of healing and restoration. Robert immediately joined a small group and discovered the sense of community he was missing. Through the fellowship, encouragement, and authenticity of his small group, and of the leaders at Canyon View, Robert was able to reconnect with God for the first time after several difficult years.

In 2002, Robert married Lisa, a beautiful, intelligent, way-out-of-his-league woman he met shortly after returning to San Diego. They started a family in 2004, and shortly thereafter, it became apparent that God was calling Robert away from his job as Project Manager for University Mechanical, and back into full-time ministry.
At the same time, Canyon View was growing and developed a need for an Executive Pastor. This was a perfect job for Robert. “I can use the gifts God has given me in finance management for the kingdom of God,” he said, “and in my home church that I love. It just doesn’t get any better than this.”

His vision for Canyon View is that it be a connecting place for others who feel disconnected from God.
Robert and Lisa reside in Tierrasanta with their two sons, Corbyn and Ayden.
