Mike,
Thanks for the love in which you presented this weekends sermon on homosexuals.
My friend and I were talking Sunday afternoon and we were wondering what now? We are looking for some practical steps to show Christ's love. I have 2 gay men who live in front of me here in TS and we exchange codialities, talk about the animals etc and the other day they told me thay were getting married and had wokrd in the initiative to allow gay marriage in Ca. They also said with disgust that "Focus on the Family" was spending 250,000 to strike down the decree. I thought, how to I share my beliefs without offending and closing down our future interactions??? Thoughts?
Blessings.

Pushing further to your point regarding a genetic predisposition for homosexuality and the possible future scientific evidence that there may indeed be a link between the two. I have noticed in many committed gay couples that there is very often one individual (for men) who is much more effeminate and one individual (for women) who takes on the more masculine role. If God created people in his own image and this is part of his creation then how can something that is genetically determined be judged as sinful by God? I agree with your point that it is likely in the future that there will be found genetic predispositions for suceptibilities to all sorts of behavioral tendencies (e.g. native americans are particularly sensitive to alcoholism). If I interpret your blog correctly you are saying that it is not sinful to be gay but it is the act of lust of the heart or sexual intimacy with a member of the same sex that is sin? Thanks PMQ for bringing this topic up in such a loving and non-judgemental manner - I know many in our HFG took your message to heart and were refreshed to find a message of love vs. judgement which as you mentioned is so prevalent in the right-wing conservatives. I do enjoy the several discussions that these "tough questions" have sparked in our group as we grapple with what we believe (1 Peter 3:15 :) and why and how we show God's love to everyone!

In answer to anonymous - I would say the best way to reach out to your neighbors is to take the tenets of KTF as the basis to have an opportunity to share your beliefs. It is no wonder the homosexual community has a prejudice towards Christians given the hatred and judgementalism that many have seen from those who profess the love of Christ. I think the sharing of our beliefs begins with our actions first before we have the opportunity to use our words - I pray you get that opportunity with your neighbors!! :)
